Passport type rules: Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visa regimes applied to Turkish citizens

Why the visa regime differs by Turkish passport type

Türkiye issues four passport types: ordinary (burgundy), special (green), service (grey) and diplomatic (black). Visa agreements between states are often concluded first for official passports, so the same country may require a visa for an ordinary passport while exempting green or grey passports for up to 90 days. When you select a type in the table, each country's status and stay limit are shown for that type.

The data is read regularly from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs page on visa regimes applied to Turkish citizens, which states the status and duration per passport type for every country. Each country guide shows the same breakdown in its passport type section.

Countries visa-free with a green (special) passport but not with an ordinary passport

According to the Ministry list, 68 countries exempt special passport holders from a visa while ordinary passport holders need a visa, an e-visa or a visa on arrival. If you travel on a green passport there is no consular step in these countries; stay limits are shown in the table.
