United Arab Emirates Visa

UAE e-visa application for Turkish citizens. Apply online, get your visa fast. Expert support from Kolay Seyahat.

About this route

This guide covers the official United Arab Emirates entry process for Turkey passport holders: required documents, the application steps, and where our optional support fits in.

Do Turkey citizens need a visa for the United Arab Emirates?

Yes, Turkish citizens must obtain an online visa (e-Visa) before travelling to the United Arab Emirates. This is not a classic visa obtained in person at a consulate on paper; it is an entirely online process. The basic logic is simple: you apply online before you travel, and the approval is linked electronically to your passport.

One detail causes confusion here: although some sources claim that travellers flying with Emirates are given a visa on arrival, current official practice requires Turkish citizens to obtain an e-visa in advance. Visa on arrival eligibility is defined by country lists, and these lists are published by the UAE authorities; for Turkish citizens, the valid route is an e-visa before travel.

What Is the UAE Electronic Permit System and Who Does It Apply To?

The UAE e-visa system works as a digitised version of the classic consular visa. Its main features are:

  • The application is made entirely online; no in-person visit to a consulate is needed.
  • Passport details and travel details are uploaded to the system.
  • Approval is sent electronically by email or through the relevant platform.
  • This requirement applies to the ordinary passport; the position for official passports is set out in the passport type section below.

Is There a Visa on Arrival?

No. On the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa exemption list, Türkiye is among the "Visa Required" countries; it is not in the group of countries granted visa-free entry on arrival.

For this reason, do not go to the airport before your visa has been approved.

Passport and General Entry Requirements

Passport validity is the first requirement of the application. The Dubai General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs requires the passport or travel document to be valid for no less than 6 months. The same requirements also include a ticket out of the UAE and health insurance valid in the UAE.

So before you travel, you are advised to check your passport's expiry date and to travel with as wide a validity margin as possible. Most of the delays that can occur at the border come from skipping simple checks like these.

UAE Visa and Travel Information: Length of Stay, Fee and Processing Time

Travellers planning their budget and dates before a trip are most curious about three things: how long they can stay, how much they pay and how long approval takes. All three are given in the table below with the figures published by the Dubai General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs; the fees for all visa types are in the fees section below.

Data Available in Sources for the E-Visa

The application is made online. The travel updates page of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation gives general information by country; the fee and duration figures are on the service pages of the Dubai General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs.

CriterionStatus
Visa statusE-Visa (online visa) required
Application methodOnline
Permitted length of stay30 or 60 days depending on visa type
Official fee200 AED (30 days) / 300 AED (60 days) + 5% VAT
Processing timeExpected 48 hours

Items Added to the Fee

5% VAT is added to the amounts in the table. If the application is processed while the applicant is inside the UAE, additional items are also charged; details are in the fees section below. The Directorate also states that the total amount may vary depending on the person's circumstances.

What Documents Are Required for a UAE Visa?

An e-visa application generally requires documents proving your travel identity and purpose. The full list of these documents is provided separately in the relevant section of the page; here we cover a few practical points to watch out for.

Complete and legible documents significantly increase the chance of the application being approved the first time. In particular, hotel and flight reservations must match the information in the application form exactly.

How to Apply for a UAE Visa Online, Step by Step

When followed in the right order, the online application process can be completed quite quickly. The general flow is as follows:

⏱️ Application Steps

1. Step 1: Access the Platform

Go to the official or authorised application platform and open the application form.

2. Step 2: Enter Your Details

Fill in your passport details, travel dates and contact details in full.

3. Step 3: Upload Documents

Upload your passport copy, biometric photo and proof of travel to the system.

4. Step 4: Payment

Pay the application fee online by credit card or the specified method.

5. Step 5: Wait for Approval

The application is assessed and the result is sent by email.

Application Form and Payment Stage

When filling in the form, the most critical point is entering details such as the name and date of birth exactly as they appear in the passport, letter for letter. Even a small typo can delay approval or lead to refusal.

Applying Through an Airline

Some airlines offer a visa application service for their own passengers. This option is a practical alternative for those who want to combine the ticket and the visa process in a single transaction; however, the terms and fees of these services may vary from airline to airline.

Tracking Your Application Status

After applying, you can check the status with your reference number. Checking your inbox regularly while waiting for approval ensures you do not miss any requests for additional documents.

How Long Does a UAE Visa Take and When Should You Apply?

Processing time is one of the most critical variables in travel planning. The Dubai General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs publishes an expected completion time of 48 hours for the single-entry tourist visa.

As a matter of general travel planning, it is sensible to apply right after your flight ticket and hotel reservation are confirmed, but at least a few weeks before travelling. That way, possible requests for additional documents or processing delays will not put your travel plans at risk.

What You Need to Know About the UAE Transit Visa

Airports such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi are major transfer hubs worldwide. For this reason, there are special transit visa arrangements for connecting passengers.

There are 48-hour and 96-hour transit visas for connecting passengers who want to leave the airport and enter the city; the fee and application channel are in the transit section below.

Cases Covered by the Transit Visa

The transit visa is for passengers who want to enter the country from the airport as visitors and stay no longer than 48 or 96 hours. The application requires a new colour passport photo with a white background, a copy of the passport including its cover, and the ticket for the onward flight.

Sponsoring a UAE Visa and Invitation Procedures

For people who want to apply for a UAE visa, the sponsorship system is an important alternative. According to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, hotels and travel agencies, airlines, UAE-based companies and organisations, and UAE citizens or residents of the UAE can apply for a visa as sponsors.

The sponsorship process works as follows:

  • A copy of the passport is sent to the sponsor.
  • The sponsor submits the application to the relevant UAE authorities in their own name.
  • Once the visa is approved, the sponsor forwards the entry visa to the passport holder.
  • The passport holder can enter the UAE by presenting this entry visa.

If relatives or friends of Turkish citizens live in the UAE, they can also apply for a travel visa as sponsors. However, different procedures apply to special-purpose visas such as for work, study or medical treatment.

All visa procedures are subject to the approval of the UAE General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs. For sponsorship requirements and current details, contact the sponsoring organisation directly or the UAE's official application channels. Special-purpose visa requests such as for work, study or medical treatment are also handled through the same channels.

Common Mistakes Turkish Citizens Make When Applying for a UAE Visa

Although the UAE e-visa application is relatively simple, many applicants run into similar mistakes. One of the most common problems is a mismatch between the passport details and the information in the application form.

  • Uploading the passport copy at low resolution or with missing pages.
  • A biometric photo that does not meet the technical requirements (background, size, sharpness).
  • Flight ticket and hotel reservation details changing after the application date.
  • Applying very close to the deadline and ignoring the risk of delay.
  • Choosing the wrong visa type (for example, choosing a tourist visa while travelling for business).

Critical Details That Get Overlooked

Many guides simply list the visa types and skip the details of the process after applying. For example, using the approved visa in line with your travel plan and keeping the dates consistent is usually covered only superficially.

What to Watch Out for at UAE Customs and Passport Control

At UAE airports, especially Dubai International Airport, random biometric screening may be carried out during passport control. For this reason, it is recommended to carry a printed copy of the visa document.

  • Have a printout of the electronic visa or a version accessible on your mobile device ready.
  • Since a return ticket and proof of accommodation may be requested, carry electronic or printed copies of them.
  • The minimum validity of the passport may be checked again by the control officer.

Should You Apply on Your Own or with a Consultancy?

In theory, the UAE e-visa application is an online procedure that anyone can complete on their own. However, preparing documents, filling in the form and correcting possible mistakes can take time.

Pros of applying yourself

  • You pay no additional service fee
  • The process stays fully under your control
  • It saves time on simple and repeat trips

Cons of applying yourself

  • There is no second pair of eyes to catch document and form errors
  • You get no professional guidance on choosing the visa type
  • In case of delay or refusal, follow-up is entirely up to you

Consultancy support minimises mistakes, especially for people travelling to the UAE for the first time, those who need sponsorship, or those applying for a business visa. Kolay Seyahat is not an official body but an independent consultancy service; official fees are always paid to the relevant UAE authorities.

Practical UAE Visa Tips from Kolay Seyahat Experts

Choosing the right visa type before finalising your travel date is very important. Choosing a tourist visa for a business trip may lead to problems on entry.

  • Be sure to check your passport's validity from your return date before you travel.
  • Double-check that the name and passport number on the visa approval document are correct.
  • If you are transiting, find out the connection time and the airport rules in advance.
  • If you are travelling through sponsorship, stay in touch with your sponsor until the day you travel.

Is a Dubai visa the same as a UAE visa?

They are the same. The visa is issued at federal level and is valid for all seven emirates, including Dubai. The term "Dubai visa" has become common in everyday use, but there is no separate emirate visa.

Dubai has its own immigration authority and also issues the tourist visa through its own channel. You can process your application through the Dubai General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs.

  • If the applicant is inside the UAE, additional items apply; the amounts are in the information box in the fees section.
  • No deposit is charged for this visa type, and the digital channels are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Only authorised tourism offices can issue the tourist visa.

Extending and renewing a Dubai visa

Plans change. The Dubai General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs defines two related services for the tourist visa: renewal and extension of the entry visa. Each is handled separately for single-entry and multiple-entry visas.

Applying before the visa expires is essential. For an expired visa, the extension route closes and a new application is required. Your extension request is assessed according to the conditions at the time of application.

  • If your return date is uncertain, considering the longer option from the start is often more predictable than going through the extension process later.
  • Extension and renewal procedures are also carried out through the digital channels of the Dubai Immigration Directorate.

Entry to Dubai: application channel and service centres

For travellers going to Dubai, the application goes through the Directorate's smart services system or authorised tourism offices. The Directorate clearly states that only accredited tourism offices can issue this visa type.

The documents requested during the application are simple: a passport photo, a passport copy and, for some nationalities, a national identity document. What really matters is the requirements section: a passport with no less than 6 months of validity remaining, a ticket out of the UAE and health insurance valid in the UAE.

Dubai visa types and official fees: full list

The Dubai General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs does not publish the tourist visa as a single type, but as separate services according to the number of entries and duration. Fees are paid directly to the Directorate.

Transit visa: 48 hours or 96 hours?

There is a separate transit visa for those connecting through Dubai who want to leave the airport. It allows the passenger to enter the country and stay for no more than 48 or 96 hours.

  • According to the Directorate's current service page, the transit visa fee is 50 AED; the service fee of the airline handling the application is added to this.
  • Applications are made through approved airlines; the Directorate lists Emirates, flydubai, dnata and the airport hotel as channels.
  • A flight ticket proving the onward journey is mandatory.

UAE visa status by passport type

This is the most commonly confused topic. The list of visa requirements published by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs makes a clear distinction.

  • Ordinary (burgundy) passport: a visa is required. You must obtain a visa before travelling.
  • Special (green), service (grey) and diplomatic passports: exempt from visas for trips of up to 90 days.

The Ministry also states that ordinary passport holders can obtain the visa from the UAE Embassy in Ankara, the UAE Consulate General in Istanbul, travel agencies or airlines operating flights between the two countries. For details, see the visa requirements for Turkish citizens and UAE travel notice pages.

United Arab Emirates Visa Rules by Turkey Passport Type
