What is the Revaluation Rate?
The revaluation rate is a parameter determined according to Article 298 of the Tax Procedure Law. Essentially, this rate is determined based on the Producer Price Index (PPI), which is an indicator of economic conditions, and it reflects the average price increase in the PPI for the month of October of a specific year compared to the same period of the previous year.
Additionally, at the beginning of each November, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announces the inflation rates for October, and the revaluation rate is calculated based on these rates. The passport fees listed in the table above are exactly the new values created based on this rate. Furthermore, the Ministry of Treasury and Finance publishes a Circular to announce this rate to the public, which is then published in the Official Gazette. You can access the details of this circular at the very beginning of this text.
Finally, you should also know that this rate is used in many calculations and valuation processes in tax legislation. Because the revaluation rate aims to ensure financial fairness by reflecting the course of the economy and the effects of inflation on tax regulations.
